Pierre Gasly is set to start from the back of the grid after taking on a fresh power unit at the German Grand Prix.
Honda confirmed that it had fitted new power unit components for tactical purposes after the youngster qualified only 17th at Hockenheim.
Gasly has taken on a fifth Internal Combustion Engine, Turbocharger and MGU-H, a fourth MGU-K and a third Energy Store and Control Electronics.
As a result, he will be required to start from the back of the 20-car grid, behind Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, who has also been issued with a penalty for taking on fresh components.
Ricciardo will start ahead of Gasly on the back row of the grid on account of his penalty being issued first.
Brendon Hartley, Lance Stroll and Stoffel Vandoorne will thus move up another place on the starting grid, having already gained from Ricciardo’s demotion.
