Toro Rosso has followed in the development footsteps of Ferrari and become the second team to add vented wing mirrors to its car ahead of the British Grand Prix.
The unique concept was first seen on Ferrari's SF71H, which allows the team to channel the air through the mirrors and into an opening on the horizontal surface of the sidepods, allowing it to run smaller vertical inlets.
The vents also reduce the negative airflow of the mirrors, as the flat surface spoils and disrupts critical airflow running over the sidepod. Often teams try to mount them as high as possible to avoid this, but the regulations restrict them being placed too high.
The development shows just how hard Toro Rosso are trying to find small, but critical gains, in its efforts to rise up in a very tight midfield.
