Formula 1 tyre supplier Pirelli has confirmed its compound choices for the Austrian Grand Prix.
The Ultrasoft (purple), Supersoft (red) and Soft (yellow) compounds will be available for the event at the Red Bull Ring.
It mirrors the selection made by the company for the 2017 running of the Grand Prix, albeit with the caveat that this year’s corresponding compounds are one step softer than last season’s options.
As per the regulations, either the Supersofts or Softs must be used for one stint of the 71-lap Grand Prix, should dry conditions prevail, while one batch of Ultrasofts must be set aside for use only in Q3.
Drivers are permitted free choice from the three nominated compounds for the 10 remaining sets of their weekend allocation of 13.
It will mark the first event since the Bahrain Grand Prix that Pirelli has opted against moving one step softer with its compound choices compared to the corresponding 2017 event.
Pirelli's new-for-2018 pink-ringed Hypersoft compound will make its Grand Prix debut in Monaco.
