Zak Brown has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the McLaren F1 team, in the wake of a restructuring at the organisation.
The McLaren Group previously consisted of two divisions: McLaren Technology Group, which comprised McLaren Racing, McLaren Applied Technologies, and McLaren Marketing; and McLaren Automotive.
On Tuesday, the McLaren Group confirmed that it is now formed of ‘three clear divisions’: Applied Technologies, Automotive and Racing.
The layer of McLaren Technology Group is being dissolved from its corporate structure.
Brown joined as Executive Director of the Technology Group at the end of 2016, but his revised role means he is now the CEO of the Racing division.
Eric Boullier’s position as Racing Director remains unchanged, and he will continue to report to Brown.
McLaren finished ninth in last year’s Constructors’ Championship, prompting the outfit to sever ties with power unit partner Honda, ending its three-season alliance.
Now powered by Renault, McLaren holds third place in the standings, as one of only two teams to have scored with both cars in each 2018 race.
