Ferrari has recruited British youngster Callum Ilott as the latest member of its Driver Academy.
Ilott was a member of Red Bull’s scheme during his inaugural Formula 3 campaign in 2015, straight out of karting, but was dropped at the end of the year.
Ilott stayed in Formula 3 and this season placed fourth overall, taking sixth wins, while competing for Prema Powerteam.
“It's a massive opportunity, thanks to everyone for making this happen,” 18-year-old Ilott posted on social media.
Ilott finished behind Lando Norris (McLaren-backed), Joel Eriksson (BMW) and Maximilian Gunther (Mercedes-affiliated) in the championship.
Ilott joins Charles Leclerc, Antonio Fuoco, Guan Yu Zhou, Giuliano Alesi, Marcus Armstrong and Enzo Fittipaldi as members of the scheme.
