Lewis Hamilton extended his lead in the Drivers' Championship by taking a dominant win in Singapore, gaining a 28 point lead over Sebastian Vettel the standings with six races remaining of the 2017 season.
Singapore was set to be a difficult weekend for Hamilton and Mercedes and this proved to be the case in qualifying, with the three time champion only managing fifth on the grid.
A first lap accident involving Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonenen however, ensured that Hamilton took the lead in the race following a strong start from the Briton.
With the two Ferraris and Verstappen out of the race, Hamilton was unchallenged out on track and took a dominant win, marking his third in succession having won in Belgium and Italy.
Red Bull Racing's pace from practice did not carry over to the race, and while Daniel Ricciardo looked set to be one of the favouries for the race win in Singapore, only managed to finish in second place, four seconds down on Hamilton despite a late Safety Car.
Valtteri Bottas came home in third place in the second Mercedes after struggling for pace throughout the race, ending his day eight seconds down from his team-mate.
Carlos Sainz Jr secured a career best fourth place finish for Toro Rosso and led Sergio Perez across the line who finished in fifth place for Force India.
Jolyon Palmer secured his first points of the season for Renault by finishing in sixth, sending a strong message not only to Enstone but also other teams on the grid on the weekend where it was confirmed that he will not be retained by the French manufacturer for 2018.
Stoffel Vandoorne secured seventh, followed by Lance Stroll in eighth and Romain Grosjean in ninth place.
Esteban Ocon rounded out the points paying positions in tenth place for Force India after being locked in an ongoing battle with the two Haas drivers and Felipe Massa.
Along with Vettel, Raikkonen and Verstappen, Magnussen, Hulkenberg, Ericsson, Kvyat and Alonso retired, meaning that only 12 drivers finished the two hour long race.
