Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is set to take a five-place grid penalty after taking on a new gearbox for the remainder of the British Grand Prix weekend.
A report issued by FIA Technical Delegate Jo Bauer on Saturday morning confirmed that Red Bull conducted the change following the conclusion of Friday's practice sessions at Silverstone.
As Ricciardo's gearbox has not lasted for the mandatory run of six events, he is poised to receive a five-place demotion from wherever he qualifes on Saturday afternoon.
Ricciardo is therefore set to join Valtteri Bottas in taking on a grid demotion, after the Finn was handed a five-place drop for the same transgression.
Ricciardo finished in sixth place overall during Friday's running at Silverstone.
