Sauber's Pascal Wehrlein will start the Canadian Grand Prix from the pit lane after his C36-Ferrari was removed from parc ferme due to a change in rear wing specification.
Wehrlein spun under braking for Turn 1 in Q1, after drifting onto the grass, and backed into the tyre barriers, with the impact damaging the rear of his car.
The impact damaged the upgraded rear wing brought to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and Wehrlein must now revert to an old specification after the crash.
Sauber has also fitted a new gearbox to the German's car.
Wehrlein was due to start the race from the back of the 20-car field.
