Formula 2 racer Gustav Malja will drive for Sauber for one day of the post-Hungarian Grand Prix in-season test.
It will be the Swedish racer’s first experience behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, driving the C36 around the Hungaroring.
The 21-year-old is currently driving in F2, following on from his first full year in GP2 in 2016, where he finished 13th overall.
At the moment, Malja is ninth in the standings – driving for Racing Engineering – after six races, having scored his first podium of the season in the Monaco sprint event.
Sauber has now confirmed his first F1 outing will come with the team at the second in-season test in Hungary.
“The prospect of driving a Formula 1 car is exceptionally thrilling, and a childhood dream come true,” he said.
“I can’t wait to experience that sensation; I’m sure it will be a very surreal moment.
“I will do everything in my power to make the most of the test day and learn as much as I possibly can.
“Wholehearted thanks to the Sauber F1 Team for giving me this fantastic opportunity.”
