The FIA met with leading figures from Formula 1, the FIA World Endurance Championship and Formula E in Monaco, agreeing to work on improving calendar alignment.
FIA president Jean Todt, F1 motorsports director Ross Brawn, WEC CEO Gerard Neveu and Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag convened over the Monaco GP weekend to discuss the issue.
In the past, F1 has clashed with the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours, while regular Formula E and WEC clashes leave drivers racing in both having to choose between them.
An FIA statement read: “Following discussions of the current calendars the group agreed to work towards a better alignment of all motorsport championship schedules in the coming seasons.”
Discussing the meeting, Todt added: "In close collaboration with its promoters, the FIA has in recent years worked hard to build and consolidate a wide variety of championships that provide great entertainment for motor sport fans.
“As such, it is important that everyone involved in our championships works towards ensuring that fans have every opportunity to enjoy our championships to the full.
“In collaboration with our partners, we have begun the process of harmonising our sporting calendars and I look forward to continuing this effort as we define our championship schedules for next season and beyond.”
