Will Power has led a Penske 1-2-3 to secure pole position for the INDYCAR Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, after a day utterly dominated by Penske and Chevrolet-power.
The Australian racer will start the 85-lap race alongside team-mate Helio Castroneves, the only other driver to have secured a pole position apart from Power so far this season.
Josef Newgarden will start P3 for Penske, alongside Scott Dixon who ended qualifying as the most competitive Honda-powered driver in P4.
Juan Pablo Montoya was a respectable fifth in his return to IndyCar, with the 1999 champion only competing in the two races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year.
Four-time champion Sebastien Bourdais was the only other Honda-powered driver to progress to the Firestone Fast Six for Dale Coyne Racing.
The St. Petersburg race winner only just snuck in to the final part of qualifying, demoting fellow countryman and reigning champion Simon Pagenaud in the process during the second round of qualifying.
Pagenaud, who won this event last season, was forced to settle for P7 on the grid and was the only Penske racer unable to progress into the Firestone Fast Six.
The Frenchman will start alongside 2012 champion Ryan Hunter-Reay, as the Honda-powered contingent were visibly thwarted by the Penske/Chevrolet partnership.
Reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe rounded out the top ten, ahead of Marco Andretti and Tony Kanaan who were also able to progress to the second round of qualifying.
Further down the order rookie Ed Jones once again shone for Dale Coyne Racing, qualifying P13 and ahead of Max Chilton, Conor Daly and Charlie Kimball.
Graham Rahal endured a qualifying session to forget, only managing P20 on the grid ahead of J.R. Hildebrand and former Formula 1 racer Takuma Sato.
