Russian Grand Prix winner Valtteri Bottas has been voted Driver of the Day by Formula 1 fans after a tense race.
The Finnish driver lined up third on the grid but stormed into the lead on the run to Turn 2, with Sebastian Vettel just behind him.
He eked out a comfortable lead in the early stages and through the pitstop phase, but Vettel came back at him in the closing laps.
The four-time champion pitted later and was on fresher super-softs, but Bottas kept his head under intense pressure.
He crossed the line six tenths ahead of Vettel to claim his maiden victory in F1, and continuing Mercedes’ unbeaten record in Sochi.
Bottas was named Driver of the Day by the fans, who were able to vote from the half-way stage onwards.
It is his first time winning the award, Vettel already has two so far this season.
