The FIA has reportedly arranged a police escort from the circuit to a local hospital for Sunday's race, to ensure the race isn't cancelled should Friday's weather conditions be repeated.
First practice on Friday was twice red-flagged as the medical helicopter was unable to land at the nearest hospital with the required neurological equipment, whilst second practice was abandoned altogether.
Although a road transfer is allowed in such conditions, the FIA regulations stipulate a maximum journey time of 20 minutes. With the hospital located 38km away, that isn't possible.
The FIA has therefore agreed with the local authority that a hospital closer to the circuit will be used, with a police escort to ensure it can be reached in a suitable time.
Sky Sports reports neurological equipment has been moved from the hospital located further away, to the local hospital, which should allow the race to go ahead if the medical helicopter is unable to fly.
Wet weather is expected on Sunday, prompting calls for the race to take place on Saturday evening when weather is forecast to be clear. However those calls were rejected, with hopes that higher winds on Sunday will clear any cloud.
