Sauber's Pascal Wehrlein says he will "quite quickly" catch up on the test days he missed out on due to a back injury sustained at the Race of Champions.
Wehrlein was forced to skip the opening test on the orders of his doctor, meaning he missed out on two days running, which was handed to Antonio Giovinazzi.
The German was finally given the green light to get back in the car for the second test and although Wehrlein only completed 42 laps, he says they were pain-free.
"I’m feeling good, so very happy about today, so I jumped into the car and no pain, nothing, was pretty happy at lunchtime and was totally fine, no issues, it’s good.
"Of course you feel tired but I don’t have pain, so it’s two separate things, I think it’s good that the back is not making any trouble, or pain, after a few laps and that’s a positive about today."
Wehrlein is confident the missed test days won't have a drastic impact on his preparations for the new season.
"In terms of my own level I will be back soon, for sure the first race will be quite tough, also the second, because everything is new, new team, new engine, new regulations.
"I lost two days of testing so of course in the beginning I will lack something, but I will catch up quite quickly and after a few races I will be back where I should be."
