Kimi Räikkönen says Ferrari can be positive over its performance across the first week of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, having displayed encouraging pace and reliability.
Ferrari has completed more than 460 laps between Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel, and has shown pace across all four days as the drivers get to grips with the SF70-H.
The Finn says this week's test has been a "much smoother start" for the Italian team and says they have little to complain about.
"It feels a lot better, but that's what you expect with the rule changes," said Räikkönen.
"We're going to be optimistic every year, but where we'll be at the end of the year is hard to say. We've learned our lesson from the past years and the team has made a good jump over the winter, but is that going to be good enough? We will see during the year, but so far it's a good feeling. We can't complain too much.
"I think it [testing] went pretty OK, considering what we had planned. You always wish to do more here and there, but this is what we did in four days and if we compare it to one year ago, I think it's been much smoother going, so it's a good start."
He added: "It's always exciting to start the year and so far, like I said, it's all been running pretty smoothly.
"We have a lot of work still to be done next week, and then we'll go from there. Where we're going to end up during the year, we don't know, but so far it's good."
