The Canadian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until the end of the next decade after the event's promoter agreed a contract extension with the sport.
The event joined the Formula 1 calendar in 1967, alternating between Mosport Park and Mont-Tremblant, before relocating to Montréal in 1978.
The event has only dropped off the Formula 1 calendar twice since, in 1987 and 2009, and in 2014 a 10-year contract was agreed between the circuit and Formula 1 chiefs.
“I can confirm that Octane Racing Group has signed a five-year extension to the existing 10-year contract signed in 2014 guaranteeing the Formula 1 race until 2029,” a spokesperson confirmed to Motorsport Week.
The race, held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, is one of the most popular on the calendar.
Canada will this year have a representative on the grid for the first time since 2006, with Williams fielding reigning Formula 3 champion Lance Stroll.
