Toro Rosso has taken the covers off its STR12 in the pit lane at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya before the start of pre-season testing in Spain on Monday.
The STR12 will be piloted by Carlos Sainz Jr., entering his third year in Formula 1 with Toro Rosso, and Daniil Kvyat, who returned to the team prior to last season’s Spanish Grand Prix.
As speculated, the car was unveiled with a striking new blue, red and silver livery, deviating from the look that Toro Rosso has been known for throughout its time in F1.
Toro Rosso finished seventh in last year’s standings, matching its best-ever classification, but gradually regressed due to its use of a year-old Ferrari power unit.
For 2017, the Faenza-based squad has joined sister team Red Bull in utilising current-year Renault power units, as it bids to move up the grid.
The STR12 made its track debut during a filming day at Misano last week but it will be run in anger for the first time at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by Sainz Jr. on Monday.
