Panasonic Jaguar Racing has confirmed that Williams Formula 1 racer Felipe Massa will test its Formula E car ahead of a speculated move into the all-electric series.
Massa previously expressed an interest in entering Formula E when considering his racing options after deciding to retire from F1 at the end of the 2016 season.
Massa was lured out of retirement by Williams when it lost Valtteri Bottas to Mercedes and sought an experienced replacement to partner 18-year-old rookie Lance Stroll in 2017.
Massa agreed a one-year deal with the British team, but looks to be thinking beyond his time in F1 after it was confirmed that the Brazilian will enjoy his first Formula E test with Jaguar.
“Panasonic Jaguar Racing received a request from Formula E to give Felipe Massa the chance to experience a Formula E car," a spokesman from Jaguar told Motorsport Week.
"We are happy to provide this opportunity.”
While a move into Formula E during its third campaign is perhaps unlikely, Massa may be in contention for a seat for the start of season four, which is expected to begin in December following the final F1 round of the year.
Jaguar made its debut in Formula E in October, and currently sits at the foot of the teams' championship without a point to its name.
