Mercedes' newcomer Valtteri Bottas is confident that he will enjoy strong partnership with new team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
The Finnish racer was confirmed as Nico Rosberg’s replacement at the reigning constructors’ champions on Monday.
Bottas makes the move to Mercedes after four seasons as a race driver at Williams, where he scored nine podium finishes.
When asked in a video interview with Mercedes about his approach to partnering up with Hamilton, he feels the two will make a good pair.
"I know him a little bit," he explained. "Obviously, we have been racing many years together and the drivers see each other sometimes in the paddock and have a chat.
"But I am still getting to know him better. If you think about it on the driving side, working as a team, I see that it can be very good.
"I think he, obviously, has more experience than me but I see us as a good pair for the team. I am sure we can work well together, share a lot of things and hopefully push each other forward.
"In that way, it is very good for the team. It is a team sport, we are here together as a pair of drivers and that’s how it goes.”
When asked about any potential goals and targets for the new F1 2017 season, he replied: "For sure, we need to go step by step. I think firstly, I am missing my first win so that is the first target.
"I am setting the goal that I can perform at the level where the car is from the first race onwards and the whole season, bringing as many points, podiums and wins as possible with this car."
