Force India driver Sergio Perez has dropped a personal sponsor over Twitter following a tweet posted about Donald Trump's victory in the presidential race and his home country Mexico.
HawkersMX, a brand of sunglasses, recently signed a deal to sponsor Perez. However the deal turned sour on Wednesday when the company posted a tweet suggesting Mexicans could use their sunglasses to hide their tears when Trump begins construction of a wall between Mexico and the United States.
Perez was unhappy with the comment and said he would dump the sponsor as a result.
"Really bad comment," he tweeted. "Today I am breaking my relationship with @HawkersMX. I will never let anyone make fun of my country."
HawkersMX have since apologised: "We have deleted the offensive tweets so as not to offend anyone else. Again, we are sorry for Mexico."
