Sebastian Vettel says he and his team are too busy to begin discussing a contract extension, with the four-time champion's current deal set to expire at the end of next season, choosing instead to focus on getting Ferrari back to the front.
Vettel has yet to challenge for the championship since joining Ferrari in 2015 on a three-year deal, with Ferrari struggling to match the dominant Mercedes team.
The German currently sits just sixth in the championship standings, behind both Mercedes and Red Bull drivers and even his Ferrari team-mate Kimi Raikkonen, who recently earned a one-year extension which will see him and Vettel continue as team-mates next year.
After that however, Ferrari's line-up is an unknown, with team principal Maurizio Arrivabene recently dismissing the idea of an early renewal for Vettel.
Vettel isn't concerned by the lack of news with regards to his future, instead choosing to focus on the performance of his team.
"I think we are all fairly busy at this time to focus on the four races that are left and focus in particular to prepare for next year, so I think that’s where, honestly, the main focus lies," he replied when asked about his contract.
"I don’t think it’s that important to look into [the] details…my contract is all fine for next year, so as I said, with a lot of things happening back at the factory, back in Maranello, I know we’re very, very busy and that’s where I want also the focus to be."
