Lewis Hamilton has pulled out of Pirelli's Barcelona tyre test this week in order to rest a sore foot ahead of the United States Grand Prix in little over a weeks time.
The Briton had been due to drive the modified Mercedes with Pirelli's 2017 development tyres fitted on Wednesday, but the schedule was reshuffled, giving team-mate Nico Rosberg Wednesday's testing duties.
Hamilton was then due to drive Thursday, but that will now fall to Manor's Pascal Wehrlein as the three-time champion has chosen to sit out the test altogether – what would have been his first experiencee of the 2017 tyres.
Hamilton hurt his foot during training on Tuesday and although the injury isn't serious, he and the team believe it best to rest it ahead of the next race, rather than risk causing further aggravation.
Rosberg completed 60 laps on Wednesday, though running was hampered by the wet weather.
Wehrlein will take over on Thursday, which will be the German's second 2017 tyre test, having previously driven for Mercedes at Paul Ricard last month.
