Jimmy Eriksson has confirmed he will not contest the remainder of the 2016 GP2 season, calling time on his rookie campaign with two rounds to go.
The Swedish driver stepped up to GP2 from GP3 this year with Arden, but having scored just one points finish so far this season at Spielberg where he finished fifth back in July, he has chosen to abandon the remaining races in Malaysia and Abu Dhabi.
"This is obviously not the way we were hoping for things to develop, but it has been a very difficult season and we haven't been able to make any significant progress," said Eriksson.
"The results have been disappointing and unfortunately I can't see any signs of improvement for the final two rounds.
"This is the first time I've prematurely called time on a season and it's a great shame, but it's the decision we've ultimately come to."
Arden have yet to confirm if they will field a replacement alongside regular Nabil Jeffri.
