The Haas F1 Team have determined what the cause of Romain Grosjean's struggles were in Singapore and hope to avoid a repeat of the same issue, with the team working to have a fix in place for this weekend's Malaysian Grand Prix.
Grosjean struggled throughout the entire weekend, missing running during practice and then during qualifying when he span off into the barrier. Although the team investigated the matter, they couldn't diagnose the exact cause until it was too late to fix.
"We analyse what we’ve done and find out what went wrong and try to put measures in place so it doesn’t happen again," explained team principal Guenther Steiner.
"It [the brake-by-wire system] is a very complex part of the car, but our problem was very simple. It was a connector that fell off," he added. "To get to the connector you have to take the gearbox off and, obviously, there was no time to do that."
Steiner insists the team will have a fix in place for the next race as they look to move on from a difficult weekend.
"We’ll manufacture a device in Europe to be sent via air freight to Malaysia to ensure the connector doesn’t fall off again. It will be fitted on the car before we get on track in Malaysia."
