Michael Schumacher's family has begun legal action against a German publication which last year claimed the seven-time champion could walk again.
Schumacher suffered serious head injuries during a skiing accident in December 2013. He spent nine months in hospital before being moved to his home in Switzerland for further treatment.
Despite very little in the way of updates, Bunte magazine ran a front-cover exclusive claiming Schumacher could walk with minor assitance and raise an arm.
The claims forced Schumacher's long-term manager Sabine Kehn to deny the claims in a statement.
"Unfortunately we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true," it said.
Kehn called the claims "irresponsible", adding it gave "false hopes to many involved people."
During the case which started in Hamburg on Monday, the Schumacher family lawyer Felix Damm also denied the magazine's claims, confirming "he cannot walk".
