Ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica will make his debut in the Renault Sport Trophy next weekend at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
Kubica raced in F1 between 2006 and 2010 before an injury sustained in a rally accident ahead of the 2011 season cut short his circuit racing plans.
The Pole returned to motorsport in 2013 following rehabilitation, racing in the World Rally Championship sporadically until making his last start in the Monte Carlo Rally earlier this year.
Kubica made his return to circuit racing at the 12 Hours of Mugello with Mercedes earlier this year, and will now continue his comeback with an entry to the Renault Sport Trophy next weekend after accepting an invitation from the French manufacturer.
Kubica will race an R.S.01 car for Duqueine Engineering alongside Christophe Hamon, having completed a shakedown earlier this week in France.
"I quickly felt at ease at the wheel of the R.S. 01, and even on a twisty track like Ales its qualities were immediately evident, especially the stopping power granted by the carbon discs," Kubica said.
"I was impressed by how late into the corner you can brake and by the absence of body roll, even when you push to make the most of the available grip.
"I look forward to driving it at Spa, where all the downforce the car can generate will also come into play."
