Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg has won the ‘Driver of the Day’ award for the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
The German driver took a dominant first victory at the Italian GP and seventh of the 2016 F1 season, having started in second place.
He benefitted from team-mate Lewis Hamilton’s poor start to hold off Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari on the run to the first corner.
Rosberg proved to be unchallenged throughout the race, as Mercedes opted for a one-stop strategy for its two drivers.
He crossed the line 15 seconds clear of Hamilton to claim victory and was awarded Driver of the Day by F1 fans.
After each round of the 2016 season, F1 viewers are able to vote for their driver of the race. Rosberg had the most votes for Monza.
It’s Rosberg’s first time winning the award and follows his team-mate Hamilton’s maiden Driver of the Day win at Spa.
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen has picked up the most Driver of the Day wins with four so far this year.
