GP2 Series driver Antonio Giovinazzi spent Monday in Ferrari's Formula 1 simulator, the team has confirmed.
The GP2 championship contender, currently second in the standings behind Red Bull backed Prema team-mate Pierre Gasly, has strong links to Ferrari with team boss Maurizio Arrivabene admitting the Italian squad is following his career closely, though Giovinazzi isn't part of their driver academy.
Despite that, the Italian got the chance to complete a days running in the simulator – his first such experience.
"It was a very enjoyable experience and I would like to thank Ferrari for this opportunity," he said.
"However, now it's straight back to concentrating fully on my GP2 programme for the rest of this season."
Giovinazzi is managed by Enrico Zanarini, who also manages Ferrari Academy Driver Antonio Fuoco and former Ferrari F1 driver Giancarlo Fisichella.
