Esteban Ocon has been given permission to start today's Italian Grand Prix, after not setting a qualifying time yesterday due to technical problems.
Ocon's Manor stopped early in the session before he had set a time, and therefore did not set a qualifying mark within 107% of the lead car that is ordinarily required to make the grid.
The stewards, after receiving a request from the Manor team, allowed Ocon to start as he set satisfactory times in earlier practice sessions, in accordance with Article 35.1 of the FIA F1 Sporting Regulations.
Ocon also gets a new gearbox for the race, which given it has been changed before the required minimum life of a gearbox of six event means he gets a five-place grid penalty, but it makes no difference to Ocon given he was starting last anyway.
