Lewis Hamilton ahead of the German Grand Prix said that he does not believe that there has been a recent change in his or his team-mate Nico Rosberg's driving form. Instead he feels that his stronger recent results compared with the early part of the season reflect that he has not been having technical problems in recent rounds.
When asked if he had an explanation for the recent change in results for him and his team-mate, Hamilton said: "I think Nico's been driving just as well as he has all year, it's just I haven't had any problems in the car in the last six races. Apart from Baku where Saturday wasn't good for me and then the race we had that problem with the car.
"But otherwise I've been driving exactly the same as in the previous part of the year, we've just not had gearbox failures or engine problems, which has been nice."
Reflecting on his early-year frustrations Hamilton added: "It was just a bad run – a lot of poles, difficult starts, collisions, gearbox failure, engine failures…think that's it in a nutshell.
"I felt that I performed in most of those weekends. The ones that I really look at are China – yeah the start in China which could really have been avoided – and Baku where I was easily the fastest; I didn't take the points I should have. Otherwise it's been pretty good since then."
