ART GP's Alexander Albon had the measure of his contemporaries at the Hungaroring on Sunday, when he led the GP3 Sprint race from start to finish.
The Thai driver led every one of the race's 17 laps after starting from the front row alongside recent addition to the series Arjun Maini, whom he passed on the run down to turn 1.
Charles Leclerc tried his best to make it an ART 1-2, but the Monegasque driver had to settle for third, with Maini taking second in just his fourth race in the series.
The first corner of the race was marred by a huge crash for Jenzer driver Akash Nandy, who tagged the front of Nyck de Vries' car with his rear wheel. The Malaysian driver hit the barrier and flipped upside down, immediately necessitating the Safety Car.
The driver was unhurt, but it took four laps for the racing to resume. Ralph Boschung was overzealous on the restart, first hitting the back of Charles Leclerc as they rounded the penultimate corner, and then beind hit by Jack Aitken. Boschung was given a drive-through penalty, which relegated him to last place.
Nyck de Vries was on a charge after starting in 20th position and flew through the field, but was only rewarded with 13th for his efforts.
Behind Albon, Maini and Leclerc was the ever-impressive Jack Aitken, who finished fourth after starting down in P9. Then came Nirei Fukuzuki, Feature race winner Matthew Parry, Jake Dennis, and Matevos Isaakyan took the final point.
