Sebastian Vettel will start the Austrian Grand Prix fives places lower than he qualifies after Ferrari opted to replace his gearbox for the race weekend.
Although Vettel suffered no issues with the same unit at the European GP a fortnight previously, the team discovered an irregularity during a routine inspection and believe it could lead to a failure during the race.
As a precautionary measure, the German will run a new unit which will incur a five-place grid penalty as the previous unit hadn't completed the mandatory six events.
The team will also introduce a new MGU-K for the race after spending a single development token on the upgrade. Ferrari now have three tokens remaining.
