Manor's Pascal Wehrlein has expressed concern the new kerbs installed around the Red Bull Ring could cause damage to the underneath of the cars if a driver simply runs a little wide, and could even catapult cars into the air.
The new kerbs, which feature yellow 'sausages' on the outside, are aimed at punishing drivers for running off the track, but Wehrlein reckons they could pose a danger if a car crosses them at speed.
"The first corner and the last two corners, they [the drivers] are always trying to go as wide as possible, but I just saw they put some yellow kerbs there, some yellow bumps, really strange," he explained following his Thursday track walk.
"Not sure if that's working – of course you don't want to drive over them, but if you do by mistake, for sure it will damage the car.
"Because the last corner, the second last corner, we are driving 180, 190, 200… so we'll go straight to Graz airport [if we hit them].
"You have to decide early if you can make the corner or not and if not, you need to go straight – because if you drive over the sausages, for sure you will damage the car, I'm sure."
