Pirelli has confirmed it has signed off on a deal to continue as Formula 1's sole tyre supplier until the 2019 season.
Whilst a deal has been on the table since last season, Pirelli had yet to sign off on it due to an ongoing disagreement over testing. With that having been resolved last month, Pirelli has now committed to the sport for another three years.
As part of the contract, Pirelli will supply F1 with wider tyres in 2017, as part of an overhaul of the technical regulations.
It has been allowed a number of test days to ready itself for the introduction of wider tyres and higher downforce cars, which includes the use of 2012, 2013 and 2014-spec cars using current dimension tyres.
However the Italian manufacturer was also granted 25 test days with the use of a modified 2015 car, to simulate 2017 downforce levels, with its new larger tyres.
