Carlos Sainz Jr. has been handed a five-place gearbox penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix.
The Spanish driver crashed out of qualifying for the seventh round of the 2016 Formula 1 season in Q2.
Sainz lost control of his car at the exit of the final chicane and hit the wall, bringing his session to an early end.
He originally qualified in 16th place due to the accident but will now drop five places on the grid for the Canadian GP.
Gearboxes have to last six consecutive races and the component on Sainz’s car was changed before reaching the required number of events.
