Sebastian Vettel set the pace in third practice for the Canadian Grand Prix but the session was cut short following a crash for Kevin Magnussen.

The Danish driver lost control of his car at the exit of Turn 7 during an out-lap and hit the outside wall heavily with just under 15 minutes left on the clock.

The damage to the car and wall meant the session was not restarted with nine minutes still to run. Vettel finished quickest with a 1m13.919 on the ultra-soft tyre, two tenths clear of Max Verstappen.

Nico Rosberg was third, with Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton next up. There were plenty of off-track excursions as drivers tried to find the limit, not helped by spots of rain falling during practice.

Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Fernando Alonso were next up. Sergio Perez and Felipe Massa concluded the top 10 on the leaderboard.

Nico Hulkenberg, Valtteri Bottas, Jenson Button, Daniil Kvyat and Esteban Gutierrez followed. Magnussen’s team-mate Jolyon Palmer was P16.

Magnussen ended the session behind Romain Grosjean and Marcus Ericsson in 19th, after his crash in the final part of FP3. Felipe Nasr, Pascal Wehrlein and Rio Haryanto rounded out the results.
