Lewis Hamilton has questioned whether Red Bull's decision to swap drivers between its two teams during the season was the right move, insisting young drivers need time to mature.
Red Bull shocked the paddock when it announced that Daniil Kvyat would be demoted to Toro Rosso, taking Max Verstappen's seat, whilst the Dutchman would take up Kvyat's Red Bull seat in a straight swap, four races into the 2016 season.
When asked to give his opinion on the swap, Hamilton said: "It's a good opportunity for one and for the other very unfortunate."
Red Bull is known for promoting young talent and for replacing those who fail to deliver results quickly, but Hamilton insists young drivers need time to prove themselves as the world of Formula 1 can be quite daunting.
"Red Bull has done well in bringing young talent forwards but they need to be aware young drivers need time to progress. Mistakes do happen.
"There is so much pressure on us, particularly at a young age, there is so much to learn and a lot of pressure on our shoulders.
"To take a driver out of a team where he is comfortable and move into another one, it's a difficult position to be in.
"Do I agree with it? It doesn't really matter, but it's definitely not something I would particularly do."
