Lewis Hamilton will start the 2016 Bahrain Grand Prix from pole position after the race stewards handed the Briton a reprimand rather than a harsher penalty after he was caught reversing in the pitlane during qualifying.
The Mercedes driver, along with a team representative, were summoned to see the stewards after qualifying to discuss the incident – a breach of Article 28.3 of the regulations, which states "at no time may a car be reversed in the pitlane under its own power".
However the stewards deemed a reprimand sufficient as no "clear instruction" was given to Hamilton as to where he should park his car.
Hamilton took his second consecutive pole position in Bahrain with a new lap record, pipping team-mate Nico Rosberg by just 0.077s.
