Nico Rosberg says Mercedes is "focusing a lot" on improving its race starts, also downplaying the significance of winning the F1 2016 season opener in Australia.
The German started in second place at the Albert Park Circuit but dropped behind the two Ferraris at the start, while his Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton fell from first to sixth.
"Yeah, for sure we’ve worked on it [the starts], but it’s a challenge this year, because it’s one clutch lever that we're only allowed to use due to the rule changes," Rosberg explained during the FIA press conference.
"So it has made it more difficult but it’s definitely an area we are focusing a lot.”
Despite the start, he gained ground thanks to a strong strategy from Mercedes and crossed the line to win the opening round of the season.
Commenting on the significance of the result he replied: "Of course it was a great start but it’s one race out of 21, so it’s really early days.
"But I’m really pleased with the car that we have. The team has done an incredible job to give us such a car again this year.
"It will be a great couple of races coming up for sure, but of course we are also looking closely at the battle with Ferrari."
