The Manor FIA World Endurance Championship team has announced Roberto Merhi will complete its driver line-up for the 2016 season.
Merhi joins former Manor F1 team-mate Will Stevens, Tor Graves, James Jakes, Matt Rao and Richard Bradley at the British LMP2 outfit.
The Spaniard won the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2011 before spending two seasons racing in the DTM series for Mercedes. In 2015 he was a test driver for the Caterham F1 team and finished third in the Formula Renault 3.5 series.
Last year Merhi made the step up to F1 with Manor, racing in 14 of the 19 rounds for the team and scoring a best finish of 12th at Silverstone. He was not retained for 2016 but has now joined Manor in the WEC.
"I’m really excited to be part of this new exciting chapter with Manor," he said. "It is a great opportunity to work with Graeme, John and the team again.
"This is my first time at endurance racing, LMP2 is a very strong championship and I am looking forward to getting into the ORECA 05 LMP2 and seeing what we can all achieve together."
Team principal John Booth added: "It has been a very exciting week with the debut of our ORECA 05 LMP2 and also completing our driver line up. It is great to welcome Roberto back to Manor.
"Roberto is a talented driver with plenty of speed and experience. I know that he will fit in straight away having worked with many of the team before and also been a team mate to Will Stevens last year."
