Manor have confirmed that their 2016 car has passed the FIA’s mandatory crash tests, giving the team the green-light to participate in pre-season testing.
It’s welcome news for the team after it missed all three pre-season tests in 2015, as well as the opening race in Australia, as it struggled to return to the grid after entering administration in late-2014.
“Our next instalment: today we completed our final crash test, so we now have a fully homologated chassis. Next stop Test 1 in Barcelona,” the team wrote on Twitter.
Manor looks set to make strides in 2016 as not only has it secured a Mercedes power unit and a Williams powertrain, it has appointed Dave Ryan to the role of racing director and former-Ferrari chief designer Nikolas Tombazis to the role of chief aerodynamicist.
Manor are only the second team to confirm they have passed their crash tests following newcomer Haas’ confirmation last week.
