Formula 1 will hold two official in-season test sessions at Spain’s Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Britain’s Silverstone, during the 2016 season.
The regulations permit two in-season tests, each lasting two days and they must be held no less than 36 hours after a race, therefore they will both take place on the Tuesday and Wednesday following their respective events.
The first test will take place in Barcelona on May 17-18, whilst the second will be held at Silverstone on July 12-13.
Young drivers will be in action on at least two of the four days, as per the regulations.
Pre-season testing doesn’t follow the same restrictions, though teams have agreed to hold just two tests – one less than usual – both of which will be held in Barcelona and will last four days each beginning February 22-25 and March 1-4.
Pirelli meanwhile has been granted a number of test days to prepare for 2017 when it will introduce major tyre changes. These dates have yet to be finalised and will likely feature just a handful of teams.
