Red Bull has hinted that it could run Tag Heuer branded power units in 2016 after posting an image on Twitter showing an engine-less car, with the comment “swiss engineering to close the gap next season”.
The Milton Keynes outfit looks certain to continue using Renault’s power unit next season, but has struck a deal to rebrand the engines, with Nissan, Infiniti and Tag Heuer believed to be options.
The team poached sponsor Tag Heuer from McLaren this season which led to speculation the name could appear on Red Bull’s engines, as it did with McLaren in the 1980’s.
An official announcement relating to the image (above) is expected on Friday.
