Red Bull will retain the same line-up as at present, team principal Christian Horner has confirmed, but only if the team are on the grid in 2016.
There had been speculation that Kvyat could lose his seat to Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen, who, despite some silly mistakes, has impressed hugely in his rookie season.
However the young Dutch driver will remain at Toro Rosso in 2016 with Daniel Ricciardo and Kvyat retaining their race seats at the parent team.
“Both drivers are under contract,” said Horner. “Ricciardo is fixed and all the options on Daniil are on our side.
“He is doing a great job, so as long as we are here, he will be in the car next year.”
When asked why the team had yet to officially announce it, Horner added: “There is nothing to announce as he is under contract. He will be in the car 100 per cent next year, if there is a car here.”
Meanwhile with Red Bull’s future in limbo as it desperately searches for an engine supplier, Ricciardo has suggested he could switch to NASCAR.
“Dale Jr invited me to do a NASCAR race next year, so I might take that up if I don’t have an F1 seat,” he joked.
“Obviously I want to make sure I’m here next year, but if for whatever reason I’m not, it sounds like I might have an option.”
