Sergio Perez has confirmed that he will remain with Force India for the 2016 season alongside the already confirmed Nico Hulkenberg, leaving the Silverstone team with an unchanged line-up.
The Mexican driver had been weighing up his options following interest from Lotus amid its potential Renault buyout, with a seat likely opening up as Romain Grosjean is expected to confirm a move to the Haas F1 Team.
However he will remain at Force India for a third season, ending speculation about his future.
“I’m very happy to finally be able to share with you what waits ahead of us in 2016,” he wrote on his personal website.
“Today I can confirm you that I’ll have the fortune to run my sixth year in Formula 1 as part of the Sahara Force India team. It means I can simply focus on the important stuff – driving the car and scoring points for the team.
“Since coming here I’ve really grown as a driver and I feel I’m performing at my best. I’ve always said I want to establish myself in a team and it’s the right moment to announce my commitment for the future with Sahara Force India.
“I can feel the potential in the team and there is a good energy, which gives me confidence for next year,” he added. “I think we can continue to deliver strong results and I will do my best to help drive the team forward.”
