Mercedes remained quickest on the second day of the Austrian in-season test, with Nico Rosberg continuing on from Pascal Wehrlein’s fastest time on day one.
The German posted a 1:09.113 to put himself atop the timing screens, with his closest rival in Ferrari’s Esteban Gutierrez some eight tenths adrift.
Eight cars completed more than 100 laps, with only the Williams of Valtteri Bottas falling short. Even McLaren’s Fernando Alonso managed 104 trouble-free laps.
DTM champion Marco Wittmann made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso, putting in the fourth fastest time, also completing the most laps of anyone at 158.
The session was a smooth one, with just one red flag thanks to Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo who stopped at the end of the pit lane with a brake problem. He was eighth quickest ahead of the Sauber of Felipe Nasr.
