Fernando Alonso will get his hands on an upgraded McLaren at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, with team-mate Jenson Button continuing with the previous spec.
The outfit has just one set of upgrades for the race which Alonso will run after Button got priority earlier in the year at the Chinese GP in April.
Alonso and the team will decide if he runs them during Sunday’s race following analysis during Friday practice. He will have further time to evaulate them during thr in-season test which follows.
The upgrades are believed to include the much-talked about short nose, a new front-wing and rear-wing among other minor modifications.
The team are expected to struggle around the Red Bull Ring which is a power heavy circuit. It’s believed Honda could decide to change some parts on both Alonso and Button’s cars, likely resulting in grid penalties for the pair.
