Nico Hulkenberg’s 24 Hours of Le Mans victory has made the entire Force India Formula 1 team proud according to team co-owner Vijay Mallya.
The German, alongside Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber, drove the #19 Porsche 919 to victory, making him the first full-time F1 driver to win the race since 1991.
Speaking ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, Mallya said he’s hopeful that his driver can capitalise on the momentum for another strong result.
“This weekend’s race is the first event to take place after Nico’s incredible Le Mans victory,” Mallya explained.
“The 24 Hours is one of the great spectacles of motorsport: it is an amazing race that demands total commitment from drivers and cars.
“Nico’s performance displayed his immense talent and made all of us at Force India proud.
“I truly hope he will be boosted by this success and translate it into another great performance in Austria.”
The team aren’t expecting much from the race however as they have focused their attention on a new B-spec car which won’t be introduced until after the Austrian GP.
