Kimi Raikkonen has been reprimanded for ‘dangerous driving’ in the pit lane during second practice for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Both the Finn and Lewis Hamilton were called before the stewards on Friday evening, though it seems only Raikkonen was punished for the mistake.
The Ferrari driver was deemed to have “drove in a manner deemed to be potentially dangerous in the pit lane”, according to a statement after Raikkonen passed Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson in the “slow” lane as he exited the pits following a red flag.
Whilst Hamilton followed Raikkonen past Ericsson, the Mercedes driver escaped similar punishment and believed what he did to be legal under the Sporting Regulations.
“The rule is that you do your starts on the left and allow people to pass on the right,” said Hamilton.
“I saw Kimi was kind of blocked because there was a car coming out of the garage so Kimi went around him and I followed. I just went to the right. As far as I am aware, it was legal.”
