Force India are hoping to make a significant step forward at round eight of the 2015 championship in Austria with the launch of a B-spec car.
The Silverstone based outfit was forced to delay its VJM08 until the final test of the season due to financial problems. Therefore much of the current car hasn’t been properly developed or has been carried over from last year.
The team are working hard to deliver a huge upgrade at the Austrian round in June according to deputy team principal Bob Fernley.
“The development is going well, but we won’t see that until probably Austria,” he told Autosport.
“It’s a major B-spec car as we’re looking to introduce a significant upgrade.”
The team have opted not to bring incremental upgrades to each race, but to instead delay each part and bring it as one huge upgrade which they’re hopeful will put them back into the midfield.
“We felt we might as well try and hold [out] with what we can and then hopefully we can bolt on an improvement.
“I’m not saying it will take us ahead but hopefully it will put us back into the pack which is where we need to be.”
